Our vision is a thriving community where every individual and family has access to nutritious food, essential resources, and the knowledge to lead healthy, empowered lives.
In case you missed it…
Here is what we’ve been up to lately!
Partnering with St. Francis De Sales Cathedral School: “Birthday in a Box” Kits
Join us in collecting supplies and making donations from Jan 26th-30th to provide children in our community with birthday celebrations! The boxes will go directly to families who can then make a birthday feel special, even during tough times. Bring joy to children who need it most!
Supplies will be collected at the SFCS front office. Donations can be made at this link.
Through your incredible generosity, Chesed Harvest was able to provide over 150 complete Thanksgiving Meal Boxes filled with everything needed for a warm, comforting holiday meal.
You reminded our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and never alone. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
Thanksgiving Meal Boxes
What began in 2024 as a simple basket of fresh fruit—apples, oranges, bananas, pears—placed at the exit every Friday quickly grew into something much bigger. No forms. No shame. Just a child’s bright smile as they picked one piece for themselves and another to take home for a sibling.
Fresh Fruit Friday wasn’t just about feeding hungry children. It was the catalyst that launched Chesed Harvest—a movement dedicated to compassion, dignity, and ending childhood hunger in our South Louisiana communities.
From one basket on Fridays, Chesed Harvest has grown into a powerful force: turning heartache into honest conversation, hunger into hope, and small acts of kindness into lasting change—one small, sweet hand at a time.
And the story keeps growing. In 2026, Community Action Network Tri-Parish United (CAN-U) proudly stepped up as a sponsor of Fresh Fruit Friday, helping us reach even more children and families.
